Bladder Cancer Surgery
Bladder cancer is the most common cancer involving the urinary system. It normally involves the bladder, but it can also arise in the renal pelvis, ureter, and urethra. Patients with bladder cancer classically present with painless blood in the urine, either grossly visible or microscopic, although irritative voiding symptoms (frequency, urgency) can be the initial symptoms. Bladder cancer surgery is generally performed through the urethra, as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia.
